Position Summary

GPMPS, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Hazardous Materials / Hazardous Waste Specialist to support environmental compliance, hazardous material management, and waste handling operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification, storage, handling, tracking, transportation, and disposal coordination of hazardous materials and hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the receipt, storage, inventory, and issuance of hazardous materials.
  • Identify, classify, package, label, and document hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain hazardous material and hazardous waste records, manifests, inventories, and tracking systems.
  • Conduct inspections of storage areas, accumulation points, and waste handling operations.
  • Ensure hazardous materials and waste are properly segregated, marked, and stored.
  • Coordinate the collection, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste with authorized service providers.
  • Support environmental compliance programs and maintain required documentation.
  • Assist with spill prevention, spill response, and environmental incident reporting.
  • Conduct training and awareness activities related to hazardous materials handling and environmental compliance.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, vocational training, or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Logistics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience managing hazardous materials, hazardous waste, environmental compliance, or related operations.
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling, storage, labeling, and disposal requirements.
  • Experience maintaining inventories, manifests, and environmental records.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting industrial, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, maintenance, or environmental operations.
  • Training or certifications related to hazardous materials management, hazardous waste operations, environmental compliance, or workplace safety.
  • Experience conducting environmental inspections and compliance audits.
  • Knowledge of spill response procedures and environmental reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with international environmental and transportation regulations governing hazardous materials.
