Position Summary
GPMPS, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of heavy construction equipment, material handling equipment, and diesel-powered machinery. The successful candidate will ensure equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and operational condition to support customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled services on heavy equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and fuel system malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot equipment using technical manuals, diagnostic equipment, and schematics.
- Repair, replace, and adjust components including engines, transmissions, drive trains, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and braking systems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor metalwork repairs as required.
- Inspect equipment for serviceability and identify corrective maintenance requirements.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection forms, and related documentation.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
- Support operational readiness by ensuring equipment availability and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in Heavy Equipment Technology, Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on forklifts, cranes, construction equipment, generators, or material handling equipment.
- Experience supporting industrial, logistics, transportation, or maintenance operations.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and equipment inspection procedures.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
