Job description

As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

1. To receive, store and distribute materials, tools, equipment and products using such equipment as fork lift, pallet jack and platform truck. Conduct physical inventories. Assist customers in material identification.

2. Loads and unloads shipments at shipping and receiving area. Transports materials and items from receiving dock to storage or other designated areas by hand, dolly, forklift or pallet jack. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined inventory procedures.

3. Stores items by identifying information such as contract number, style, size or type to maintain traceability. May mark identifying codes on articles.

4. Opens bales, crates and other containers using hand tools. Counts and records of quantity of materials or items received.

5. Fills requisitions, work orders or requests or materials, tools or other stock items for distribution to requestor. Assembles order from stock and marks items with identifying information. Coordinates deliver dates to ensure required schedules are met.

6. Reads work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Transports materials and items from storage to designated areas by hand, dolly forklift or pallet jack.

11. Responsible for the security of inventory and stored goods.

12. Maintains work area in a clean & safe condition.

13. Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand - between 5 to 6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to walk - between 5 to 6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, knell, bend, reach and climb periodically.
  • Must be able to work outside and inside in non-climate-controlled environments.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

The ability to acquire and maintain a Common Access Card.
